Late Spring of 2020. The first flower essence has been made. The prickly pear cactus (Opuntia polyacantha), in pink and yellow.
On to roses, primarily Rosa ‘icecap’ with Rosa ‘peace’.
And Delphinium elatum ‘Aurora Blue’, commonly known as candle larkspur.
Queen Anne’s Lace (Daucus carota) is spectacular, truly the bee’s knees.
And of course, clematis must be part of the mix. This flower essence has mainly ‘Roguchi’ with a pinky lavender clematis the species of which I have yet to confirm.
The next essence is the sumatran lily (Lilium oriental ‘sumatra’). The pictures don’t quite show the full depth of the red tones, very seductive.
And then calendula (Calendula officials). Such cheerful yellow-oranges here!
And here is a beauty of a hibiscus (Hibiscus ‘perfect storm’) in lovely pinks.
And more lovely pinks, happy-to-be-here cosmos (Cosmos bipannatus).
One of my favorites is the sunflower (Helianthus annus).
And an incredible salvia (Salvia ‘raspberry delight’). The magenta is so rich!
Ah, the iris, named after the goddess of the rainbow. This white iris (Iris ‘immortality’) is a re-bloomer and has an incredible scent to boot.
And last but not least for the 2020 Summer, is this near-glowing ultraviolet gentian (Gentiana ‘true blue’).
2021 has been an interesting year so far, and the call to make more flower essences has been heard. First up is forget-me-not (Myosotis sylvatica).

Sweet lovely lilac (Syringa vulgaris). And such a beautiful fragrance.

Rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum) flowers are so delicate.

Coreopsis grandiflora ‘Heliot’ has complexity with the deep burgundy centers and the orangish yellow petals.

Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla sericata ‘Gold Strike’) holds much mystery.

And last but not least for 2021, German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla recutita) offers cheer and hope.
