I had been writing the Full Moon post for September, intending to continue posting these Full Moon Blessings. However, I had been feeling strong guidance to pause from sharing these posts to focus energy into the continued writing of the book on Ascension Astrology. And I guess this Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius made it clear to me a decision needed to made. It has given me much joy to share these Full Moon Blessings with you, and I’m looking forward to continuing at a later date. As always, if you are interested in an Ascension Astrology Reading for yourself or a loved one, please contact me through my website. Peace and Blessings to you in these extraordinary times.

The Full Moon is in Capricorn. The New Moon on July 24th was in Cancer. This Full Moon on August 9th is called the Sturgeon Moon. Sturgeons can live in brackish water, salt water and fresh water, making them extraordinarily adaptable. May we find that adaptive strength within ourselves as situations continue to evolve and shift.
The New Moon in Cancer is a rich and fertile moon for planting new seeds for nurturing ourselves, our loved ones and our planet. The Moon is in its rulership in Cancer, and is suggestive of the memories held in water, held in the blood and in the ancestral lineage. We are noticing more and more, perhaps, this choice-point of continuing to choose to inflict pain and suffering on others for inflicting pain and suffering on us, or choosing something merciful that allows for a breaking of the karmic chain that continues to bind us all. A significant happening this same day is the square between Venus in Taurus and Mars in Leo. Venus rules Taurus, so it accentuates the value of pleasure and harmony. In its squaring off with Mars in Leo, it is suggestive of tension between the need and desire for harmony versus the urge for power displays, or other strategies that illustrate power dominance or control.
The Full Moon in Capricorn is a time to reflect on the highest good we can bring to the planet. What can we manifest to support the greatest growth for all? How can we bring forth our best selves? It is a tall order, but we are the ones who must bring it forward. The Moon is in its detriment in Capricorn, suggesting that the light being mirrored here feels more like a critique of what is still not complete, still not at its best, still not at the top of the mountain, rather than feeling like a warm fuzzy blanket that lulls you into a much-needed nap. There is a lot going on this same day that adds to energies of the Full Moon. So let’s get ready to look as these beautiful kites…
First is the “kite” pattern formed between Mars opposing both Saturn and Neptune and the trines between Mars and both Uranus and Pluto. Mars is in Virgo; Saturn and Neptune are in Pisces; Uranus is in Taurus; and Pluto is in Capricorn. Neptune is in its rulership in Pisces, strengthening mystical urgings and the thinning of the veils. Pluto is in its debility in Capricorn, making the transformation process Pluto brings ever more epic in what is being asked within to transform; the level of challenge is at its highest. Mars relates to power and aggression; Saturn to discipline and limits; Neptune to mystical and creative pursuits, also including getting lost in illusion; Pluto relates to death, rebirth and transformation; and Uranus to innovations that seem to come from lightning flashes of inspiration, or “out of the blue”, and also the valuing of rebellion and non-conformity. This kite is strong for the whole planet, in terms of systems that are impacted, and perhaps you can feel the intense dynamic of these opposing energies as they are drawn together. There is a new door opening when these big planets are in aspect together, just like the key on the kite string illustrating the existence of electricity, there is a metaphoric key on this kite string that may show us the existence of another natural force we have long-suspected but have not collectively accepted as real.
Second is another “kite”, slightly modified in its shape, primarily involving the Sun. The Sun opposes Pallas-Athena, squares both Vesta and Juno, and trines Ceres. Additionally the North Node trines Vesta and Juno. (And both Vesta and Juno square Pallas-Athena, and Pallas-Athena sextiles Ceres.) It is a very interesting combination highlighting important themes of: self-expression; honor-bound relationships; dedication and commitment to serving Source; creativity and independence; nurturance of self and others; and where the collective is moving for its highest growth. In other words, this “kite” covers more of honoring the different facets of who we are as we move through the growth process, how we honor all of the parts of ourselves and stay in a balanced way so we arrive without losing our luggage or becoming completely disheveled.
As we look at these “kites” shimmering in both sunlight and moonlight during this Full Moon, we are being asked to adapt and stretch, to go beyond the limits we think are possible for the small notions of who we think are and what we are here to accomplish. We are perhaps being asked to continue reaching for the biggest and best versions of ourselves, to bring forth the highest for ourselves, our families, our relationships, our communities, our planet. We have everything we need within us to get to the top of the mountain, we just have to believe we can get there and be persistent in our goal to reach the summit. May we arrive in celebration and gratitude, inspiring others to continue striving, and helping those who need a boost to stand next to us. This is the time.
July 10, 2025
The Full Moon is in Sagittarius. The New Moon on June 25th was in Gemini. This Full Moon on July 10th is called the Buck Moon.
The New Moon in Gemini feels like a broom, brushing the old away, making room for something new, something fresh, like the winds of change. There is always a blessing with Gemini if we’re willing to let go and welcome the unknown. As the butterfly is associated with Gemini (as are smaller birds), when we are willing to surrender to the transformation, we are granted flight inviting us to the next adventure awaiting us. Interestingly, one of the stars in Gemini, Pollux, is high-lighted in this New Moon, suggesting much growth potential and insight born of trials. The Buck Moon may also be a buckle-up moon suggesting a bumpy ride this month.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius may beckon us into sparring or philanthropic pursuits. We can use the passion of this sign to engage in arguments or we can use that energy to contribute to society in ways that highlight our unique gifts. Jupiter governs Sagittarius and represents generosity and benevolence, sometimes getting a bit wild, not heeding the boundaries. The saying, fortune favors the bold, feels like an expression on par with the no holds barred attitude Jupiter typifies.
There are a couple of other aspects noteworthy for this month to mention. On July 4th, the 249th birthday of the United States of America, Venus and Uranus are conjunct in Taurus. This feels noteworthy as an augur of what is unfolding in the US specifically, even as it is fully a planetary influence. Taurus represents pleasure, appreciation of beauty, indulgence and sensuality, and a preference for nature at its pace, unencumbered by dirty technology and urban ethos. Venus represents a preference for harmony and beauty, and also a desire for justice to ensure, or restore, harmony. Uranus represents flashes of insight, genius that is unpredictable and erratic, unconventionality, discoveries that challenge norms, a willingness to forge ahead regardless of existing precedent, and above all, unencumbered freedom. Venus governs Taurus (as well as Libra) and there is much ease in this connection, but Uranus in Taurus is not the most comfortable shoe. Uranus and Venus seem to have different values. Is there movement toward disclosure of clean energy technology even if we are not seeing it yet? I may be engaging in wishful thinking, yet I will use that as my birthday wish for the country and the planet. Free energy technology that allows freedom for all. If the technological advances benefit the preservation of nature, the entire world becomes potentially a utopic society as nature can be restored, and basic needs for clean water, food and warm shelter are obtainable.
The other conjunction of mention is a longer-lasting one because it occurs between two slow-moving planets. Let’s address the elephants in the room: Saturn and Neptune, and they are meeting in the watery and dreamy sign of Pisces. They conjunct on June 29th, but will reconnect in early August, and again, in February of 2026. Saturn represents all of the structure and limits that offer form, and also represents discipline, restriction, strength earned through trials, and the pressure and constraint of time. Neptune is often seen as disillusionment and deception, but it also represents spirituality, softness and kindness, and incredible beauty. Neptune rules Pisces, and this connection (Neptune in Pisces) is supportive for strengthening this current Age of Pisces, helping us to touch into Unity Consciousness, to know in our hearts what quantum physics is illustrating, very simply put: our deep connection to all life, our ability to positively influence life and the benefits when we appreciate the gift of life. Saturn in Pisces, by contrast, is not quite like a fish out of water, but it is an awkward placement, perhaps teaching about the discipline needed and the responsibility required to take care of our spiritual selves, our human family, this planet and all of our relations. As these massive planets conjoin, there is potential to see the ephemeral beauty of a new form, one that allows a deeper honoring of ourselves, of others, to ensure that there is a beautiful future for generations to come.
What is the Full Moon Blessing for this month? The Full Moon in Sagittarius beckons us to aim for the stars, holding to a lofty course, letting the highest good be our goal, our target, to boldly have faith that peace is possible, that peace is just the beginning for our next adventure on this lovely planet. Sagittarius governs the hips and thighs, encouraging us to move. If possible, dance, sing, drum and enjoy the blessing of the Full Moon. The Full Moon is in Scorpio. The New Moon on May 26th was in Taurus. This Full Moon is called the Strawberry Moon, perhaps encouraging us to enjoy the sweetness of nature, to taste the beauty of the Sun kissing the Earth with its’ nutritive light.
There are always many astrological happenings, and zeroing down is left to the astrologist to discern: what is most significant to mention? This month took me in a different direction than I would have anticipated. We will discuss the significance of the New Moon and Full Moon, but before looking there, let’s look at the asteroids Chiron and Pallas-Athena.
Chiron represents the wounded healer archetype, often showing us our healing, or teaching, style, but also the places where we are most vulnerable and in need of healing. Pallas-Athena represents the creative feminine, a place all of us carry, that is longing for expression and is fiercely independent, willing to defend her unique artistry against those who would stand in the way.
Chiron is in Aries, and Pallas-Athena is in Aquarius. Aries represents the passionate pioneering energy, willing to make a new path so others can follow. And Aquarius the eccentric genius, thinking outside of the box while wanting to deeply benefit those residing in the box.
Of particular interest for this month is that both of these asteroids are luxuriating in the zero point. Chiron spends nearly three weeks at zero degrees Aries (from May 20th through June 10th), and Pallas-Athena nearly two weeks at zero degrees Aquarius (from June 3rd through the 16th). What feels ripe here is the emptiness of the zero, the circle that seems to be without anything yet contains everything, the hidden potential. Can we sit with this empty that is not yet revealed, to just be with the possibility of what might be becoming?
June 10th is the triple zero day (Mars, Chiron and Pallas-Athena); there are many doors opening for a new creation. And it feels like an echo effect, like hearing angelic singing in the hypogeum, the beauty in the sacred space allowing the sound to be magnified.
Mars in Leo at zero degrees is opposite Pallas-Athena in Aquarius at zero degrees. Mars trines, and Pallas-Athena sextiles, Chiron in Aries at zero degrees. Mars provides much passion and energy in the feisty yet noble sign of Leo. There is beauty opening and also the challenging energetic of Mars, as aggression may be simmering at the surface. We can use this energy to work on creative projects and focus on self-care and healing with ourselves or others.
Another aspect worth noting on June 10th is Venus squaring Pluto at eight degrees. This has a certain tension that cannot be overlooked. Venus in Aries is not a comfortable placement, as Venus relates to pleasure and Aries is often about willfulness, sometimes to the point of battle. Pluto is in its debility in Capricorn, and structures and societal foundations are transformed, often in abrupt ways that can appear as chaos.
Another occurrence on the 10th, just prior to the Full Moon, is the Moon occults (conjuncts) one of the prominent fixed stars in Scorpio, the heart of the Scorpio constellation, Antares, (also called, al-Kalb). Antares is said to rival Mars, and the assumption is that it’s because of the red color. I don’t disagree, but it also seems worthwhile to note that Mars was the ruler of Scorpio prior to Pluto’s discovery. There is a passion here that is often ascribed to Mars. Antares relates to passion that can border on obsession. This is great for projects that require it; just be sure to choose something worthy of your focus.
Antares is also considered to be one of the Royal Stars of Persia. For each cardinal direction there is a “watcher” and an associated archangel. Antares is considered the Watcher in the West, and is associated with the archangel Uriel. Uriel is associated with wisdom; the name means, “God is my light.” May we all be guided by this light.
The alignment this month felt auspicious for making an orchid flower essence, Orchid Blast. This essence seems to pertain to bringing forth hidden potential, and will be available for purchase soon on my Etsy page: https://sublimemedicinearts.etsy.com There are many other essences available there, both singles and blends, including the Ascension Stream Blends that have zodiacal applications. Each Ascension Stream Blend can support an aspect of one’s astrological star map, or can be chosen based on the intention of each blend.
Returning to the significance of the New Moon and Full Moon: The New Moon in Taurus is a delicious pairing. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, and this is one of the most fertile new moons to plant seeds for what is needed, or simply wanted, in order to create the most abundance. Taurus is sensual and can be both indulgent and overly materialistic, but is also willing to work ceaselessly to bring projects to fruition. What did you want to nourish this past month, so it can become a source of sustenance in your life, or perhaps in the lives of others? Our prayers are powerful; may we offer them in abundance.
The Full Moon in Scorpio is not a comfortable time for reflection. The waters are deep and untested. The Moon is in its debility in Scorpio. There is an emotional stress to what is being moved and touched in the deep, and it’s difficult, often, in the moment, to name it, or even know it. Yet there is a rich blessing in a Scorpio Full Moon if we are willing to dive deep and trust that the transformation which unfolds is for our highest good. May we reflect on the message of the archangel Uriel, “God is my light.” May we place our trust fully in this Eternal Source of all creation and may we walk in beauty, doing our best to be stewards for goodness for all of humanity, for all of life, on this incredible planet.
May 12, 2025
Apologies for the delay in getting this post out. The Full Moon is in Libra. The New Moon was in Aries. The theme from seed to bloom this month is balancing the needs of the self, and examining the balance, or the need for it, within relationships.
Let’s take a look back at the seeds planted at the New Moon in Aries, on April 27th, to see where we have been and to glean our direction for this month. On that same day, there were three other aspects of note: Venus conjunct Saturn in Pisces; Saturn conjunct the North Node in Pisces; and, Mars in Cancer opposing Pluto in Capricorn. There are some harsh realities and potentials for disillusionment planted in this New Moon, and it may cause disruption in family systems and larger societal systems, but it is necessary for evolutionary growth.
An interesting happening midway from New Moon to Full Moon this month, on May 4th, was that the Moon was conjunct with a star cluster within the Cancer constellation, called the Beehive Star Cluster (M44), also known as Praesepe, the Manger (or Cradle). This cluster is composed of 1,000 stars in the region of Cancer’s heart. The following day, May 5th, Mars also conjuncts this sparkly cluster of stars. It feels like an awakening of the sweetness of the heart, where deeply held memories and strong emotions, a very tender place that is often rigorously guarded, are being encouraged to melt, shimmer and sparkle.
There are three aspects occurring on the Full Moon in Libra on May 12th worth noting: Sun in Aries squares Juno in Capricorn; Mercury in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn; and, Saturn and Ceres conjunct in Pisces. (Juno represents significant partnerships, marriages or soul mate relationships. And Ceres represents nurturing, unconditional love and mothering, including the support we receive from Source through this incredible planet, Earth.) Structures are brought into greater focus, metaphoric structures, like the relationship with ourselves and with others, as well as the physical and metaphorical structures that support us, including our societal institutions. There is a cornucopia of abundance available to draw from and a longing to find an ever deeper and more nourishing equilibrium. Do you know where the metaphoric gold is buried that you can access? This Full Moon beckons us to recalibrate our compasses in order to find the buried treasure.
Curiously, midway after the Full Moon, on May 19th, there appears to be a graduation of sorts, as the North Node moves into Aquarius. And Jupiter moves into Gemini. The timing feels auspicious. There is movement into more ideas and innovations that allow for greater communication and increased group consciousness. One of the challenges in this shift is to hold the center as much as possible, exploring ideas without getting caught in polarity.
The other theme for this month is a deeper level of reflection on the Golden Rule: doing onto others as you want done to yourself; or, put another way, wanting for others what you want for yourself. Do we want others to be free, to be safe, to be healthy, to be happy, to have access to a balanced way of living, or do we only feel some are worthy to receive such gifts? May we turn our longing into prayers for this beautiful planet and for all of those residing here.
In feeling the energies of the Full Moon, opening to a broader ideal of goodness, allowing ourselves to imagine how it would feel if we saw, felt, knew, deep in our bones, the unity of life, the value of life and the profound impact we have in praying for that ideal. As the North Node makes its way into Aquarius, this yearning for peace and freedom will become even more apparent. Enjoy the blessings of this month.
April 12, 2025
The Full Moon is in Virgo. This Full Moon is called the Pink Moon, named after pink phlox which create blankets of beautiful blooms in the early springtime (for the Northern Hemisphere). And this moon is sometimes also simply called, the Flower Moon. Just out of curiosity, in examining the energetic of phlox flowers, particularly as an essence (which is quite different to an essential oil) phlox is about building and connecting with our spiritual families and opening to our higher purpose.
Let’s look back at the New Moon in Pisces on March 29th to see what see was planted before delving deeper into the significance of the Full Moon in Virgo. The New Moon was in Pisces. This New Moon was also a Solar Eclipse. There was a stellium of planets in Pisces, with Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Neptune and Chiron all drinking from the dreamy waters in addition to the Sun and Moon. This is a beautifully rich seed to plant, a seed for peace, for unity, for understanding our deep connection to one another and to all life. As we look to the Full Moon in Virgo, how can we bring this richness to fruition in order that it may shine even more purity on our lives and also on others, to be in deeper service to support greater health for the entire planet? It’s a tall order, to be sure, but one we can all answer, as everyone has a role to play in bringing about this brighter future.
Looking toward the day of the Full Moon (April 12th), there are three aspects I would like to examine first. The Sun and Chiron conjunct in Pisces. Chiron represents the archetypal energy of the wounded healer. What do we need to shine a light on, to heal within ourselves, in order to be more fully present? That same day, Jupiter in Taurus squares Ceres in Aquarius. Ceres represents the archetype of the mother who provides for all without question, an expression of unconditional love. As this asteroid squares Jupiter, looking at imbalances in access to resources seems to be highlighted. And finally, also on April 12th, Vesta in Libra squares Pallas Athena in Capricorn. Vesta represents the archetype of loyalty to a higher power, and Pallas Athena to the archetype of independence, creativity and a willingness to defend against encroachment on said values. In this square, it looks like balancing the needs of bowing to the higher while simultaneously honoring the creative expression of the self.
As we look at the significance of the Full Moon in Virgo, let’s take these other aspects into consideration. Virgo, which represents purity, attention to health and the small steps that can support these ideals, may be inspiring us to make the most of this time by looking at places where we are longing to be more present, places where we need more nurturance, and balancing the needs of our creativity with the desire for deeper communion with the Sacred Source.
In this Full Moon Blessing I would also like to briefly touch upon the later part of April; there are some strong dynamics at play, and being prepared can support us in, hopefully, being less reactive when it arrives. April 18th-30th has a strong oppositional energetic due to alignments with the Sun, Mars and Pluto. On April 24th, there is a T-square formed, with the Aries Sun squaring Mars in Cancer, and the Sun also squaring Pluto in Capricorn (and therefore Mars and Pluto forming an opposition).
This tension can be used in a beneficial way to support places within ourselves that are longing for transformation; and it may be wise to take more time alone these last 12 days of the month, to reflect upon and process what is being stirred within your own being. What is longing to be awakened and cleared from your psyche? What support do you need to help it be washed, so you can carry even more light? Be extra cautious of the assumptions made before taking brash action in this window, as it may prove to be even more consequential than usual during this time. May the Full Moon bring deep remembrance of our sacred purity. Enjoy! Many Blessings.
March 14, 2025
The Full Moon is in Leo. This Full Moon is called the Worm Moon, suggesting the movement underground as the thawing begins with official Springtime soon to be heralded. This Full Moon is also a Lunar Eclipse. Generally speaking, a lunar eclipse opens an energetic doorway to a new energy, often something felt or sensed, but not always initially named. With the Lunar Eclipse/Full Moon in Leo, you may want to reflect on these themes: pride, generosity, leadership, drama, passion, playfulness and a willingness to step into the spotlight. Are we hiding behind the curtain? Do we need to let others shine? Do we understand what true leadership entails, and are we willing to allow humility to guide us as we attempt to guide others? We will return to discuss the significance of the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse, but there are some other places that feel important to look at first.
The New Moon was in Aquarius on February 27th. The seed being planted seems to be related to groups, specifically in relationship to technology, outer space or other innovations meant to better humanity and the planet. With us being in the Age of Pisces, these innovations must be in alignment around the themes that illumined Pisces represents, or they will only further the distortion of misaligned Pisces consciousness, manifested as greed and delusion. Those innovations that shine the light on Unity Consciousness and the awareness that springs from that knowing: that innovations must benefit all of our relations, are the litmus test we must pass if we wish to build true harmony moving forward.
On this same theme, the Lunar North Node has been in Pisces since September 26th, 2023 and moves into Aquarius very soon, on May 19th, 2025. It is like we are nearing a graduation. The Lunar North Node is often expressed as the direction in which we need to move to have the most positive growth, but it requires learning a new skill. In Pisces, we have been moving in a direction of greater Unity Consciousness and we are now in the polishing stage. Let’s polish it so it can shine and sparkle before entering the Lunar North Node in Aquarius, our next phase in awareness.
This month is characterized by many synergistic alignments that feature Aquarius and Pisces energies. On March 3rd, the Sun in Aquarius squares Jupiter in Taurus, emphasizing the expansion in business and world commerce as it relates to innovation and technology.
Also, on March 3rd, Venus in Pisces goes retrograde until April 14th, giving an opportunity to feel the harmony of these energies, like two contented lovers, for longer than we normally would have without the extension from the retrograde. What else do we long to learn about love and the union of lovers?
Just prior to the Full Moon, on March 12th, the Sun in Aquarius conjuncts Saturn, highlighting the discipline needed to bring innovations and new technologies into the light.
The Sun moves into Pisces on March 16th, giving greater light around the Piscean themes of altruism and the connectedness of all life.
Also, on March 16th, Mercury in Pisces goes retrograde until April 8th. This brings us time to reflect and slow down with what we think are our next steps, and to complete what has already been set in motion.
Then on March 18th, the Sun in Pisces conjuncts the North Node, perhaps why it feels important to highlight the travels of the North Node in this month.
And another energetic doorway opens on March 20th, with the Spring Equinox, emphasizing new growth, beginnings and an increase in light for the Northern Hemisphere.
On March 23rd, the Sun in Pisces conjuncts Venus, and on the 25th, the Sun in Pisces conjuncts Mercury. This feels like an opportunity to check in with how we are bringing light to these two areas, Venus representing love, and Mercury representing the mind. We may not feel comfortable letting love be our guide, but can we perhaps allow them both to weigh-in equally, as these conjunctions seem to suggest?
Returning now to the Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon in Leo on March 14th. Leo governs the heart. The heart is the place where we can access both our courage and our compassion, where we can potentially know the true essence of ourselves. We are each being asked, whether we know it or not, to lead by example. We are each being asked to recognize and embrace our noble selves, and be generous to our human family tribe, to all our relations. The Hopi saying, we are the ones we have been waiting for, is ALL of us, and this is the time to SHINE. This Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse is an opportunity to shine this light even more brightly than ever before. May we shine the light on the most positive path forward. And may we walk in Beauty.
February 12, 2025
The Full Moon is in Leo. This Full Moon is called the Snow Moon, perhaps reminding us of the cover of protection provided by snow, sending future water to all the life that requires it for sustenance. Before delving further into the significance of the Full Moon, let’s look back to see the seeds that were planted at the New Moon.
The New Moon was in Capricorn on January 29th. Capricorn is an earth sign associated with ambition in overcoming challenges. The Moon is in its detriment in Capricorn, making the confrontation with some of our challenges slightly starker a reality than we might appreciate. What mountain are we wanting to climb so we can see the incredible view once we reach the top? There may be practical challenges we have been avoiding, and this New Moon encourages feeling the fortitude to move forward, even if it’s only a few tiny baby steps.
On this same day, the 29th, Venus, the planet associated with love, beauty and harmony, moves into Pisces. Venus in Pisces lends us some water colors to paint a future scene. What do we want to see for ourselves and for our world? This Pisces Age we are in (until 2376 AD, when we enter the Age of Aquarius) highlights Unity Consciousness, caring for others and the planet, stewards for all of God’s creatures, not making separation. The Ocean of Love, for those who can swim, is water in which everyone can enjoy a nice back stroke, or simply float.
Jupiter conjuncts Aldebaran on January 31st. This star is a prominent one in the Taurus constellation and is considered a royal star of Persia, the Watcher of the East. East is the direction associated with the dawn, with Springtime, suggesting new births, new beginnings. This star has ties to Archangel Michael, who protects and defends against the forces of darkness. Aldebaran represents great success and requires integrity at all times in order to maintain it. Jupiter is a planet representing expansion and good fortune. As Jupiter contacts Aldebaran shortly after the New Moon, it feels like we as a collective are being asked to stand in our alignment with the highest integrity in order to bring in this new creation being birthed, in order to receive good fortune for this lovely planet and those who reside here. Quantum physics makes it clear we are all connected, and each one of us can inspire greatness by stepping into our highest connection to God, the Eternal Source of Love.
The Full Moon conjuncts Regulus, a prominent star in the Leo constellation. This is another royal star of Persia, the Watcher in the North. North is the direction associated with winter, with those who have gone before (i.e., our ancestors), and represents both wisdom and gratitude. This star is associated with the archangel Raphael (whose name means, “God heals”). Regulus relates to great success so long as revenge is resisted at all costs. This has proven to be challenging for us as a collective, and we are all witness, in some form, to the vicious cycle vengeance creates. This is a big one, but it feels like we are being asked to accept what has occurred and allow the Light into our collective wounds so healing can begin and we can feel peace and ease in the wisdom of gratitude.
Also, this same day, the 12th, Mercury moves into Aquarius, encouraging inspired innovations on all fronts, particularly those that benefit humanity. Aquarius is associated with group consciousness, and the progressive themes of honoring the splendor of each individual in the group. It is a paradox of simultaneously not being about us and yet being all about us. How can we allow this way of thinking to influence all the areas of our lives to create more community everywhere we go? If we dare to ask the question, we may be able to access some answers.
As we look to the Full Moon in Leo, and the bigger picture of the energies of this month, may we celebrate the opportunities to deepen our alignment, may we ourselves shine brightly knowing that we are shining in reflection of the One Light, and that we shine to inspire others to do the same, allowing the light to be illuminated throughout the world and the entirety of the Cosmos.
January 13, 2025
The Full Moon is in Gemini. The New Moon in Sagittarius was on December 30, 2024. This Full Moon is called the Wolf Moon. Perhaps this signifies being open to a new path, to allowing our deep knowing and inner guidance to move us, to take a step in a new direction, a direction that wants to feed us on our cosmic journey of consciousness. Are you sensing a new path opening? If so, how will you take your first step? What do you need to move forward?
There are some other interesting celestial happenings occurring this month, but I will only touch on a few; these are all aspects involving Mars. Mars represents energy and passion, and it can also represent violence and aggression. But without energy and passion, how does our “engine” move us forward?
Mars is actually moving backward (i.e., retrograde) through Cancer, and reaches into Gemini on January 19th. A retrograde may feel like the cosmic brakes have been locked, but it is an opportunity to reassess how we are moving and feel the capacity to course-correct. Mars is in its debility in Cancer, as these energies are not compatible, almost as if Mars in its desire for action feels stifled by Cancer’s desire for reflection. But there are also rich lessons to be had here.
Mars opposes Pluto on January 3rd, which highlights both Cancer’s focus on emotions and the importance of home, and Capricorn’s ambition as it relates to practicality and benefiting society through building. Pluto’s energy is always strong; this planet represents death, rebirth and transformation. Pluto is in its debility in Capricorn, as Pluto’s transformative energy meets Capricorn’s desire to maintain and build structure is not ideally suited. In these planetary bodies having a face-off, there is an eruptive quality that may be felt or seen.
The Sun and Mars are in opposition on January 15th. The Sun represents self-expression and self-identity. While this contact is much lighter than the contact with Pluto, it may feel like a tug-of-war, as each side wants to be spotlighted. It presents an opportunity to examine the balance between our home-life and what is being asked in our contribution to society.
Mars conjuncts Pollux on January 23rd. Pollux is a significant star in the Gemini constellation. Pollux represents wisdom gained from painful experiences. Painful experiences are mostly guaranteed in our cosmic journey, but gleaning wisdom from them is another matter entirely. What is the painful experience wanting to show us so we can get the teaching (the wisdom) and continue enjoying our path?
Mars in Gemini opposes Mercury in Sagittarius on January 24th. Mercury represents thinking and communication. Mercury is in its detriment in Sagittarius, possibly hindering communication. There may be desire for movement without clear thinking behind it.
On the larger global scale, it is interesting to note the contacts Mars has with Pluto, the Sun and Mercury this month, perhaps highlighting new ways of thinking about how we run energy on the planet, both our own personal energy and how movement on this planet is fueled. There is a bolstering through these planetary contacts for a transformative leap into something even more compassionate for our collective evolution to higher frequencies. May we allow ourselves to step in to our highest expression and contribution for the greatest good.
The New Moon in Sagittarius in its best version is optimistic and wants the highest wisdom way to benefit the whole. This sign cares about those less fortunate and strives to bring philanthropic endeavors to the forefront. While Sagittarius is a passionate sign that can also represent battle, the higher vibration of this sign is to bring lofty ideals into form, to expand the horizon for greater understanding so that all may benefit.
The Full Moon in Gemini on January 13th seems to present us with a revised way of thinking about what we want, where we are going, how we intend to get there and so on. Gemini represents thinking, being able to hold multiple viewpoints, and not getting caught in the polarity. With the Full Moon in Gemini there is a flexibility demanded from us to open to a new idea, a possibility that seeks to give us more freedom and space. Holding the center within the duality keeps us in our alignment, allowing us to have the maximum energy as we take our next step forward.
Blessings to you on this Full Moon! Enjoy.

The Full Moon in Taurus on December 15th is called the Cold Moon. The New Moon on November 30th in Scorpio planted some very deep seeds, planted beyond the usual purview, and in very rich soil. The Cold Moon offers time to reflect and go inside, to be quiet and conserve our energy, ideally, balancing the demands of the world with the yearnings of our soul.
The Scorpio New Moon is a fertile moon, as Scorpio is a water sign. However, the Moon is debilitated in Scorpio, and in the darkness of the New Moon, it is difficult to see what is being planted, possibly making this month more emotionally challenging to navigate. Scorpio offers transformation and transmutation, and is governed by Pluto.
Some interesting happenings occur this month, particularly in relationship to Pluto. Pluto is a very strong force, representing death and transformation. As we know, the U.S. is experiencing its Pluto return in Capricorn this year, offering a rich opportunity to reinvent itself into something more beautiful. On December 5th, Pluto conjuncts Ceres in Capricorn. Ceres is an asteroid that represents the feminine aspects of nurturing and caretaking. And on December 7th, Pluto conjuncts Venus in Capricorn. Venus also represents a feminine energy, keeping in mind that everyone has both a feminine and masculine side. Venus urges us to develop and appreciate beauty. Venus rules both Taurus and Libra, reminding us that beauty is also about balance. Capricorn represents ambitious determined strength, and a willingness to overcome obstacles most would avoid attempting. This is precisely the strength that is needed to see that the stewardship of this planet is not hopeless, that the atrocities done to life in all of its forms can still be mediated, that it is not too late to support the good.
Also, on December 7th, the Sun in Scorpio opposes Jupiter in Taurus. This is an interesting juxtaposition of looking at the desire for expansion and also the places that need to be transformed to receive it more fully.
And on December 14th, the Sun in Scorpio opposes Eunomia in Taurus. Eunomia is an asteroid, named after the Greek Goddess of law and order. As you may recall, only a couple of months ago, in October, Eris and her moon, Dysnomia, were prominent. Eris represents strife and misfortune. This may represent an opportunity to deepen our understanding of both sides of that “coin” (represented by Eunomia and Eris) allowing us to deepen our discernment of justice.
Mercury goes direct on December 16th, continuing its travels in Scorpio. Scorpio contains deep love, but it also can be inclined toward inflicting its own form of justice when it feels it has been wronged. As Mercury continues to travel through Scorpio, being mindful of using our words to foster healthy growth, and resisting the temptation to use them as swords to hurt those we feel have wronged us, continues to be a theme for a while, and is simply a good practice regardless of Mercury’s placement.
The Winter Solstice is on December 21st, marking the midpoint of winter for the northern hemisphere. This is the shortest day of the year, the least amount of visible light, and a potent day for prayer and inner reflection.
On December 23rd, Mercury conjuncts Antares, the star that represents the heart of Scorpio. This can be an opportunity to work on projects that will benefit from near-obsessive involvement (for example, writing a book that demands detailed research).
Turning now to the significance of the Full Moon in Taurus. Taurus represents abundance and fertility, sensuous ease and pleasure, but also virility and immovable strength. The Moon is exalted in the sign of Taurus, making this Full Moon an opportunity to deepen our appreciation for all the ease and abundance we have, even if we see places where we might wish for more. The expression, count your blessings, feels apt for this Full Moon, and truly we tune into the frequency of abundance when we express sincere gratitude. There may be other challenges ahead, but right now, in this moment, feeling the richness of all that we have, not just the material ease, but all of the blessings of all those who love us, all who have helped us, all who have enriched our lives. Perhaps because we are also nearing the end of the year, not only the resolutions of what we wish to shift or transform in the coming year, but what has been incredible this year that makes you smile ear to ear? What fills you with gratitude when you give yourself a moment to think about it?
Please enjoy this lovely month. Blessings!
November 15, 2024
This Full Moon is called the Beaver Moon, and is in the sign of Aries. The new Moon on November 1st was in Libra. This polarity between these opposite signs, Aries and Libra, highlights both the importance of honoring our own needs and also being aware of the other in the relationships we nurture (or hope to nurture). I will go into more depth of the significance of both of these in just a bit. This is a month of action and creative endeavor. Beaver medicine is about building and honing our skillsets. What are we feeling called to bring forth, and how can we improve on our current gifts and strengths so we can offer the greatest contribution?
The New Moon in Libra allowed us an opportunity to plant seeds around the themes of beauty, harmony, and possibly even toward greater peace within ourselves, or our own families and communities. During this New Moon we may have felt an urging to create more ease within our home or in our work space, or within our significant relationships. Part of what this New Moon energy may have stirred within us was a greater awareness of where we do not witness beauty, harmony or peace, allowing us to look at some of the places within and without that feel out of balance, out of alignment; perhaps at this time these imbalances are striking us in a more discordant fashion than usual.
The next day, November 2nd, Mars (in Cancer) and Pluto (in Capricorn) were in opposition. Mars represents energy and a tendency toward aggression; Pluto represents transformation and awakening, both of which are typically perceived as disruptive for the change they bring. This opposition is like these planets looking at one another in the mirror with nothing to buffer the view; the intensity of this connection seems to be supporting the growing awareness within humanity of the cycles of time, our place within the greater global family and what needs to shift to ensure the best outcome.
Looking now to the Full Moon in Aries: there is something about an Aries Full Moon that feels like a cacophony of loudly clanging brass. Aries is a beautiful sign, bringing a leadership quality that is desperately needed in these times where much of the way seems to be elusive. Natives of this sign have an innate intuition that is like a Toucan bird, guiding them in new directions that others may not have even noticed existed. However, this leadership must be rooted in the good to be beneficial for those who follow. We can utilize this energy by tuning in to our own pioneering energy, feeling the importance of bringing something forward for the betterment of humanity. How can we guide the way for those who will follow?
The next day, November 16th, Saturn turns direct after being retrograde for several months (since June 30th). Saturn is continuing its exploration in Aquarius, and there is an awkwardness about it, reminiscent of the show, “The Odd Couple.” Saturn represents limits and responsibility, and Aquarius represents freedom and innovation. Yet there is a blessing in this transit, perhaps in a deeper understanding of the personal responsibility necessary to attain and appreciate true freedom. The direct motion brings relief, as if the wheels of time are moving forward toward something hopeful and unique that will benefit humanity and this beautiful planet.
Please note that on November 27th, Mercury goes retrograde in Scorpio, allowing us more exploration of our internal communication within the deeper places of the psyche often overlooked, supporting the transformation and awakening process that is being prompted by the U.S.’s natal return of Pluto, and echoed in this month’s opposition between Mars and Pluto. The Mercury retrograde is a wonderful opportunity to reflect and reevaluate everything that has been unfolding and to reexamine possible next steps, allowing the receiving of more information and insight to be provided over the three-week retrograde period.
Enjoy!
October 17, 2024
This Full Moon is called the Hunter’s Moon, and is in the sign of Pisces. Figuratively speaking, what are you hunting? Are you allowing yourself to find what you need so you will feel nourished for your continued growth? Do you know what is needed that will fulfill your longing? On the flip side, do you feel hunted? Is there something in the past that is catching up with you? Or similarly, do you feel haunted? Are there belief systems of the past, old wounds or even issues within the lineage, that are making you feel trapped? Is it possible you feel caged in by your limited sense of who you think you are? Let us look back at the New Moon in Virgo to discover what has been planted. And then let’s look at the blossoming of the Full Moon in Pisces so we can gauge all that is opening this month.
The New Moon was in Virgo on October 2nd. It was also a Solar Eclipse, and there are some other connections that feel relevant to the impact of this New Moon, which I will share soon. As you may recall, there was a Solar Eclipse this past April, and it was in the opposite sign of Virgo: Pisces. That Solar Eclipse had a confusing yet intense energetic, impacting the emotions in a deep and unsettling way. This recent Solar Eclipse happened to be timed with some of the major storms on the East Coast of the United States, literally unsettling the very ground we stand on. While I am not suggesting this Solar Eclipse caused the event, the timing is noteworthy.
A Solar Eclipse creates a cycle beyond the normal monthly New Moon/Full Moon Cycle, and it is worth examining to see what is being planted not only for this month, but for the ensuing months until the next Solar Eclipse (on March 29, 2025). On the day of the New Moon, the Sun was conjunct with Mercury in Virgo. As the Solar Eclipse diminished some of the light from the Sun, in the Sun’s connection with Mercury, some of brilliance of this conjunction was either obscured or diminished, and this may play into the foundational energetic for this month and for the next several months.
Also, on October 2nd, Mars was trine with Saturn. While a trine is usually seen as easy or harmonious, in western sidereal astrology it depends who is meeting up. When these two planets are in contact, there is not much benefit to be seen. Mars is energetic, often inclined toward aggression, and in Gemini, changeable in its mood and unpredictable. Saturn represents discipline, responsibility and also feeling limited or constricted; with Saturn in Aquarius, a sign that wants freedom and innovation, there is a rigidness that risks being broken. When these planets trine, there is tension present, and this may serve as a foundational energetic for not only this month but for the next several.
The New Moon in Virgo is like a new birth, with Virgo representing purity, innocence, and also the potential for deep wisdom. Virgo is an earth sign, and has connections to health, hygiene, and attention to details. Virgo is ruled by Mercury and is considered exalted when Mercury is in Virgo, as it lends much ease in clear-thinking and communicating to support optimal understanding. The New Moon in Virgo may inspire greater awareness of our health, what we need to shift to ensure we are preserving it (or restoring it) and this may include looking not only to our diet but to our hygiene (our habits). Health is a broader category than just the physical, as all facets of our being (i.e., mental, emotional, spiritual) must be given the proper attention. What beneficial habits are we subtly being guided toward implementing? Are there energetic aspects of hygiene that we sense, but may not consciously have identified, that are impacting our sense of health, of ease? This month urges us to say yes to greater attention focused on our health and to those in our care.
As we look to the Full Moon in Pisces on October 17th, there are a few other related placements I would like to touch upon before exploring the significance of this Full Moon. One is related to the opposition between the Sun and Fortuna on that day, another is the opposition between the Sun and Eris. Additionally, I would like to note the significance of the North Node as it is continues traveling through Pisces. And lastly, on that same day, Vesta enters Virgo.
Fortuna is an asteroid in the belt between Mars and Jupiter. Fortuna, in mythos, is a goddess of luck and good fortune. Often she is depicted wearing a blindfold, suggesting she is not preferential, just offering free opportunity. Fortuna is in the watery sign of Pisces, which symbolizes Unity Consciousness and the dissolution of self. In opposition to the Sun in Virgo, it feels that there is a nice exchange of gracious ease, acknowledging the alignment needed to dissolve.
Eris is considered a dwarf planet (along with Pluto and Ceres). Yet as we know in astrology, this characterization doesn’t necessarily translate into the impact these planetary bodies have in our psyche. Eris is located near Neptune, and was discovered in 2005. Eris has a moon of her own, called Dysnomia. In mythos, Eris is a goddess of strife and misfortune. You might think they would name a dwarf planet after the goddess of chocolate and teddy bears, but apparently it was not as appealing. Eris is traveling through the constellation Cetus, a very large constellation, also known as the Whale or the Sea Monster. The prominent star of acclaim in Cetus is Menkar, and relates to the collective unconscious, to what is lurking in the deep waters. In opposition to the Sun in Virgo, it feels like there is sense of dread that cannot be named but is very likely felt.
The North Node of the Moon continues its travels in Pisces. The North Node is considered the direction of emotional growth. We, as a collective, are being asked to be more in harmony with the planet, with one another, to see how we are all connected, and to recognize we are all emanating from the same Source.
The asteroid Vesta, another in the belt between Mars and Jupiter, moves into Virgo. Vesta is the virgin goddess of home and hearth. The Vestal Virgins took an oath of chastity in service to the higher needs of their society, to their conceptualization of the Divine. They kept a fire burning in their temple to represent the continuity of dedication and loyalty. Vesta represents the value of keeping the pure fire burning, a passion to serve the Divine. With Vesta in Virgo, a sign also associated with purity, the emphasis on alignment can be greatly refined and strengthened.
Looking at these other happenings on the day of the Full Moon, it feels there is an urging to bring our collective body into greater awareness of this higher connection, for the best outcome for all. And our personal alignment is again emphasized for awakening into that awareness.
The Full Moon in Pisces, a water sign, one that is very deep, sensitive, perceptive, and sometimes psychically uncomfortable with all that is swimming in the same water with it, brings us greater awareness of our emotions, and also greater perception of the emotional energy that surrounds us. A Full Moon in a water sign is typically a stronger felt experience, and for some this may be challenging. It may be felt days before the Full Moon. An Epsom salt bath or other soaking opportunities (e.g., hot springs) can be very supportive in easing the shedding of psychic layers. Other creative outlets (e.g., painting with water colors, dancing, creative writing) may also allow the flowing of stuck energies that just cannot be held onto any longer. This Full Moon, while it may be cathartic, is also an opportunity for dissolving into the waters of Unity Consciousness. May we courageously dive deep and swim in the luxurious waters. Enjoy.
September 17, 2024
The full moon is in Pisces, and is also a partial eclipse. This full moon is also called the harvest moon. May we reap what we have sown, and may it be good and nourishing. Before we explore the significance of the full moon in Pisces, let’s look back at the new moon in Leo on September 2nd, to see the significance of what has been planted. In fact, I would like to back up just a bit further to encompass some of the movement that has occurred since the last full moon in August.
On August 28th, Mars went into the airy sign of Gemini. Mars represents energy and passion, sometimes passion that gets ahead of reason or kindness. Gemini is characterized by its capacity to see and hold polarity, as well as its mental astuteness and flexibility. With Mars in Gemini we may have many ideas that we want to bring into focus or manifestation. The caution with this placement is that we can act before grounding, we can speak with sharp tongues, causing pain to others either directly in interactions, or indirectly through gossip, backbiting or slander.
Mercury went direct on August 29th, in the watery sign of Cancer. On September 6th, Mercury moved into the fire sign of Leo. Mercury had been in Leo prior to its retrograde, allowing for more time in both Cancer and Leo than would have occurred without a retrograde. Mercury represents thinking, communication and allowing ourselves to receive inner messages and guidance. Cancer is often seen as the holder of memories, similar to water’s ability to store emotions and experiences. Some of the mental activity with Mercury in Cancer seems to be sifting through the emotional library, discerning which books need to be read and which ones may need to be re-written. Leo is often considered to be generous, gracious and a natural leader. With Mercury in Leo, we are being asked to look at how we think about ourselves, our status, our value in relation to everyone else. Can we be honoring of the deep humility we need to carry in order to be of deepest service while simultaneously recognizing the deep nobility needed to be the stewards of this creation? And can we honor it for both ourselves and others?
The new moon on September 2nd in the fire sign Leo sets the stage for something bold and dramatic to be planted. Leo may not be the most fertile sign to plant a seed for the new moon (versus a water or earth sign), but every sign has its richness, and in the regal sign Leo, which governs the heart, it suggests a new creation wanting to be born. What is the highest vision we can hold for both ourselves and others, and for this planet? When we bow to the Creator and imagine the sacredness and love that brought us forth to be in this world, can we remember how that feels and create from that place, seeing a world that is truly a holy garden?
Also, on September 2nd, Uranus went retrograde in Taurus. Uranus will be retrograde until January 31st, 2025. We are likely familiar with the significance of Mercury retrograde, but we may be less aware of the implications of the outer planets in retrograde. In western sidereal astrology, the retrograde itself is not perceived in a negative light, though it can foster patience in the native who may have to revisit issues or themes that they thought were resolved.
In addition to Uranus in retrograde, many of the outer planets are already retrograde, perhaps making it feel like we are moving backwards, or at least, making it feel like certain forward movement, we sometimes call progress, has been significantly slowed. Saturn is retrograde in Aquarius, and will be until November 16th, 2024. Neptune is retrograde in Pisces, and will be until December 9, 2024. Pluto is retrograde in Capricorn, and will be until October 13, 2024. And Chiron, an asteroid, is also retrograde, in Pisces, until December 30, 2024.
The Sun in Leo was in opposition to Saturn in Aquarius on September 8th, perhaps highlighting the importance of honoring both our own gifts and seeing how they can fit into our responsibilities to groups and communities in serving the highest good.
Early morning (for some time zones) on September 17th, the moon was in Aquarius and was conjunct with Saturn. It feels like a gentle reminder of our focus, to value our communities and to bring forward our unique talents. Saturn often represents restriction yet it offers richness through the forced cultivation of our gifts that can then flower in to beauty to be shared with others.
As we return to the discussion of the full moon in Pisces on September 17th, let us note that it is also a partial lunar eclipse. There is something hidden we are not taking into consideration. Something moving that we are failing to see which can serve as both a caution and an opportunity for deepening our faith. The Great Source of Goodness, the Creative Force, has everything in hand, whether evident or hidden. The full moon in Pisces, a water sign characterized by deep sensitivity and perceptions beyond the confines of the 3D realm, gives us a rich opportunity to engage our creative faculties, allowing us to envision the world as a healthy place, full of beauty. This energy on a full moon with some eclipsing makes it harder to define exactly what is being illuminated and may even blur the lines between illusion and reality, but it is also precisely the opportunity to dream a bright future. Enjoy and many blessings!
August 19, 2024
The full moon is in Aquarius, the Water-Bearer. This full moon is also a super moon, and is called the sturgeon moon. Sturgeons are fish that have existed for millions of years, live in both fresh and salt water, and have been found in the waters near every continent. These fish get quite large and live to be many decades old. They are over-fished as a source of caviar and meat. The lore and mythos of the sturgeon is fairly similar across cultures, primarily seen as symbolic of abundance, fertility and creativity. Before delving deeper, so-to-speak, into the full moon for August, it feels appropriate to back up to the new moon in Cancer on August 4th.
The new moon in Cancer on August 4th allowed for planting in rich and fertile waters, though in the dark of the new moon in Cancer, governed by the Moon, it was almost like the tide was out, making the waters slightly elusive. A Cancer new moon is ideal for starting the projects that deeply nourish ourselves and others, though again it feels like there is a specificity of needing to know where we are planting the seed and why are we choosing that particular seed. The Moon helps to stabilize the climate and the seasons for the Earth, and influences growth. Do we know what we planted, what we wanted to nourish? Did we feel permission to choose a seed that would deeply nourish both ourselves and others?
Soon after the new moon, on August 6th, the Sun in Cancer was in opposition to both Psyche and Iris, in Capricorn, creating an interesting tea party for discussing the deeper meaning of home, nurturance, intimacy, creative expression and safety. The Sun in Cancer tends to center around home, care-taking and issues around nurturance. Psyche, an asteroid located between Mars and Jupiter, and considered unique due to its rich composition of metals, represents yearning for intimacy. Psyche in mythos is a butterfly goddess who finds her soul mate in Eros resulting in their three children: Bliss, Ecstasy and Pleasure. Psyche, in Capricorn, represents the practical steps we can take to embody greater intimacy within ourselves, and perhaps also with our significant other. And Iris, another asteroid (also located between Mars and Jupiter), represents expression, particularly the expression of beauty. Iris in mythos is the messenger goddess typified by the rainbow. In Capricorn, Iris encourages the practical ways of showing gratitude, of expressing our creativity and shining our light to the world. As the three of them witness each other, so-to-speak, the light of the Sun in Cancer illuminates issues of security and the desire for nourishment and the pleasure of nourishing others, while Psyche reflects back a longing for greater intimacy, ultimately with Source through knowing herself, and perhaps also through a partner. And Iris reflects back the desire for beauty through healthy creative expression. The Cancer-Capricorn polarity is about felt embodiment and practical initiation to manifest high-level value for self and others. Do we feel permission to nourish ourselves? Can we balance creative expression while also having nourishment for others?
August 6th is also when Mercury went retrograde in Leo, though it will make its way into Cancer before turning direct on August 29th, giving us much to think about. Mercury retrograde allows us to have some time to reflect on where we are going, to rethink, reorganize, recalibrate, return to unfinished projects that need more reflection to be complete. Mercury retrograde is often such a blessing, even as it can feel like a delay. Keeping us from where we think we are supposed to be going may in fact get us to exactly where we need to be.
As we return now to the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 19th, areas highlighted include embracing ingenuity, deepening friendships, seeing the immense value of groups, and also appreciating eccentricity and independent thought. Uranus governs Aquarius. Uranus is viewed as a higher octave expression of Mercury. This planet often inspires genius in lightning flashes of insight. Saturn governs Capricorn and once also ruled Aquarius, but it seems Uranus is more suited to the expression and often brilliant and unique intellect of Aquarius. A Full Moon in Aquarius may seem more mentally focused, as Aquarius is an air sign, but when we look deeper at the large and caring hearts this humanitarian sign embodies, we see the immense container of water they bring to bear, literal and metaphoric water that supports life, nourishment and great abundance. What areas of your life are needing more water to feel deeply nourished? This full moon provides an opportunity to reflect on the dry places within. There is sufficient abundance for all to flourish when we recognize the unity of all life, truly wishing for others what we want for ourselves.
July 21, 2024
This full moon is called the buck moon. This perhaps suggests the gentleness of the deer energy being held within the protective masculine covering of the buck. And we also have a saying of, “buck up!” as in, toughen yourself up against the challenges you may be encountering through facing them without avoidance, even if you experience fear. And within the saying of buck up is hidden encouragement: you’ve got this. You wouldn’t be encountering the challenge if you didn’t have the strength to walk through it. This month has some sweet and spicy aspects, so let’s go through them one by one to see what is being made.
The new moon was July 5th, and in Gemini, the possibilities of new expression were planted. Gemini seeks to find the center within the duality, but also to explore the polarity in order to glean where the center might be. This new moon was like a fresh breeze, inviting a new way of communicating information that moves us into higher understanding of who we are and what we are here to offer.
On July 7th, an asteroid, known as Ceres, appeared opposite the sun. Ceres was at 19 degrees of Sagittarius while the sun was at 19 degrees of Gemini. Ceres represents the mother, and the earth mother, the matrix that gives birth and sustains life. In astrology, this can apply to issues around nurturance, including our styles and strengths, our preferences and needs, and our areas of avoidance, including our deficiencies. Ceres in the Sagittarius zodiac connects issues of nurturance to those of higher purpose and meaning. And as they look at the mirror of the sun (a metaphor for the opposition; they are facing each other), what is being reflected back? Are there meaningful communications in place, represented by Gemini, allowing for the deepest understanding in fulfilling our higher purpose, a purpose that is nurturing for us and for others? In order to answer this question for ourselves, we not only have to have some awareness of our higher purpose, but also some awareness of nurturance as it relates to ourselves and others.
Then the very next day, July 8th, Jupiter conjuncts Aldebaran, a star in the Taurus zodiac. Aldebaran is considered one of the Royal Stars of Persia, the Watcher in the East. Aldebaran mythos relates to great success that only arrives through ethical action. As Jupiter, the planet of expansion and fortune, makes contact (a metaphor for the conjunction) with Aldebaran, perhaps the opportunity for success in large and noble projects is highlighted, so long as there exists deep integrity throughout. For me, this is building on both the new moon and the Ceres opposition: a theme around bringing in something new that is beneficial and nurturing, so long as it has purity.
The next aspect occurs seven days later, on July 15th, when Uranus and Mars conjunct in Taurus. Uranus is the planet representing innovation and lightning strike changes that aren’t anticipated. And Mars represents raw energy, sometimes extremely aggressive, that yearns for an outlet so it can move. When these planets meet (the metaphor for the conjunction) the outcome can be shocking and disruptive. As Taurus is an earth sign, it seems like it may have to do with a change in plans, as the practical has to respond to the sheer influx of raw energy and lightning that is shifting the path that is taken.
And six days later, we have the Full Moon in Capricorn on July 21st. This day also marks a conjunction between the Moon and Pluto. It you were hoping for some bland crackers this month, the sequence of cosmic happenings may prevent you from having anything less than extra spicy. The Full Moon represents many things, but in particular is the way it shines the light on places that might otherwise stay sleeping comfortably in the waters of the unconscious. Pluto represents the transformation alarm clock that doesn’t just play classical music allowing you to snooze 8 more times; it is the alarm clock that wakes you by immersing you in ice cold water, a typically shocking and distressing experience. When these celestial bodies get together (a metaphor for the conjunction), catharsis and yearning for transformation may be profound. As these bodies are meeting at the Capricorn Café, topics such as death and fears around aging or debility may be more at the forefront. Yet this Full Moon and conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn may also hold deep blessings in bringing to the surface our desires for manifesting our legacy, and the practical steps that are needed to bring them to fruition.
June 21, 2024
This full moon is called the strawberry moon. This conjures up a notion of delicious sweetness, nourishing ourselves with whole foods straight from the garden (or a local farmer’s market). [Slight tangent here: strawberries are consistently on the EWG dirty dozen list for pesticides, so please source these wisely.] The new moon this month was in Taurus, and the full moon is in Sagittarius. [Please use a star gazing app, such as Star Walk, to verify these placements for your own curiosity.] Looking at the new moon as the new birth or starting point and the full moon as the culmination or destination of arrival for the energies of this month, let us review the significance of Taurus and the planetary associations, and then the same for Sagittarius, so we can see the map of what is being brought forth for us this month.
Taurus is ruled by Venus (Venus also co-rules Libra). Venus is a planet that represents love, beauty and pleasure. The moon rules Cancer, and is exalted in Taurus. Exaltation in Taurus suggests the affinity this sign has for water, for nourishing rain, and for the growing cycle of plants. Traditionally the new moon is when seeds are planted, in the rich darkness, the earthly womb where germination occurs.
This past new moon in Taurus suggests fertility and richness metaphorically wishing to be born from the earth, from practicality and guided efforts. Taurus represents steadiness, endurance and patience, and governs the throat. Can we be cautious with our words so as not to hurt hearts? And conversely, can we muster the strength to speak our truth when the time is right, to say what must be said regardless of consequence?
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter is considered a higher octave of Venus (just as Uranus is considered a higher octave of Mercury). Where Venus represents love more on an individual level, Jupiter represents the generosity of love to humanity as a whole; in fact, to all of creation. Jupiter is viewed as benevolent, generous, lucky, fruit-full (pun intended in honor of the strawberry moon), expansive and ease-filled. It can also make us feel ungrounded, like there are no limits, no rules, no ceiling. But in the visioning process, it is important to feel the broadening and limitlessness in order to allow the bigness of what we are striving for to be received so it can be realized.
Sagittarius is represented as the centaur (a mythological being who is half-human and half-horse) with a bow and arrow, willing to go into battle if needed, but also representative of making a wish upon a star, so to speak, and aiming our arrow for the next adventure. Sagittarius qualities include wisdom, truth, philanthropy and dignity. Sagittarius governs the hips and thighs, important for our movement into our next adventure, or completion of our current one. Sagittarius is a fire sign, and often natives of this sign have passion in bringing goodness to the forefront. With the full moon in Sagittarius, it seems we are all being asked to reign in our lower desires to serve the highest ethic.
This full moon in Sagittarius feels like it is about awareness of our lofty goals, feeling the bigness of our dreams, our longings to be manifest, and also ensuring we are taking the practical steps toward realizing those goals, not rushing, simply being measured in preparations so all of our seeds can bear fruit in the perfect time. The fruit reminds us not only of savoring the sweetness of life, but also of the abundance of nature, wanting prosperity for all of creation. Because everyone has a value to bring to this planet, a gift that wants to be realized and shared. If we want a planet filled with peace and harmony, seeing the goodness in ourselves and others, our common denominator, is a huge step in the realization and sharing so many of us are seeking.
May 23, 2024
This full moon is called the flower moon. May we be blessed to smell a beautiful fragrance. The full moon is flowering in Scorpio. The new moon was on May 7, 2024 in the Aries constellation. One of the aspects of what is transpiring this month, that is fascinating to me, is the relationship between these two signs: Aries and Scorpio were once co-ruled by Mars. Mars is still the ruler of Aries, but Scorpio is now primarily ruled by Pluto, only secondarily ruled by Mars. Since the new moon is the seed-planting aspect and the full moon represents the fruition of the planted seed, it seems worthwhile to reflect on the astrological attributes of Mars, Pluto, Aries and Scorpio in order to appreciate what is growing this month.
Mars represents a strong force, typically aggressive and willing to battle. There is an independent spirit here that doesn’t want to surrender or find a different way to resolve differences. It does not wish to relinquish what feels like a true and correct course of action. There is also a survival and primal instinct suggested, and reminiscent to me of the Wood element in Chinese medicine. Often growth, creative expression and resultant shifting of boundaries can create resentment and conflict. Change is naturally resisted. This planet, astrologically, is energetic, robustly in the direction of shifting toward where internal passion guides.
Aries is an independent sign, capable of leading, unafraid of forging a new direction. The new moon in Aries may have inspired heeding the inner calling to follow what is true and authentic for each of us, not worrying about following societal pressures or norms. There is a Sufi saying that each of us contains the entire universe within, suggestive of a hologram, perhaps, but certainly it follows that we contain all of the planets and constellations. On that note, ideally we strive to harmonize these forces within, seeking to provide each frequency with healthy expression, allowing every instrument in the symphony to play their beautiful song.
Pluto is a planet, or was once considered a planet, but has since been demoted, and yet still continues to have a place in governing one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, constellation, Scorpio. Pluto is portrayed astrologically as the cold and dark underworld, where death and other unknown forces are kept hidden. Pluto though is also a blessed gift, bringing the transformation that doesn’t occur without letting go of the old comforts of who we think we are. As perhaps a trite yet clear example of transformation, becoming a butterfly is a profound shift from the caterpillar, one that allows for a completely new way of being, yet the cocoon stage is an ending for the caterpillar, and may be fraught with trepidation. It is interesting to me that Pluto astrologically represents the most substantial transformation, life and death, and yet has been downgraded in esteemed value because of certain astronomical criteria it no longer appears to meet. I am not arguing about its rating, just intrigued by the significance of its symbolism in getting re-assigned. Pluto reminds me of the Water element in Chinese medicine, associated with birth and death, and encouraging us to deepen our trust in the processes that surround them lest becoming frozen in fear.
Scorpio is elusive. What you see is not necessarily what you will get. There is depth, beyond what many can imagine. And there are secrets, and not necessarily because what is hidden is bad, it is simply not to be shared except for those who can contain it and respect its wisdom. Scorpio has the capacity for transformation, for realizing its potential, and part of that transformative strength comes from harnessing a vast amount of emotional intelligence. And this transformative strength can also translate into power, to calculated strategy and timing without anyone suspecting the plan. Perhaps because as they get to know themselves, to witness their vast emotional depth, they can easily know, or imagine, the inner workings of others and plan accordingly.
The full moon in Scorpio is typically quite strong regardless of where our natal sun and moon reside. Full moons in any of the water signs (Pisces and Cancer being the other water signs) are mostly pretty strong, though not everyone senses the connection. The moon is said to govern the emotions and the less conscious parts of ourselves, including much of the dreamtime. Sometimes a Scorpio full moon has a delayed effect, as it goes deep into our inner oceans like a covert ops scuba diver, not realizing what has shifted until the time is right.
Humans are about 70% water (closer to 90% at birth), and just as the tides of the oceans of the earth are impacted in a meaningful way by the moon, so too does the moon pull on the water of our own earth (i.e., the body fluids of our bodies). Emotions, including emotional memories, are stored in the blood (blood, which is mostly water and composes the equivalent of our internal oceans); this is not exclusively a Chinese medicine concept, but to provide a theoretical basis, I am drawing primarily from that paradigm. And interestingly, many researchers have shown that water has a memory, and can be imprinted by emotions, for better or for worse.
There may be heightened emotions as the force of the full moon pulls on our water, moving stored emotions, perhaps, or stored memories. This brings up another metaphysical concept: what makes the full moon appear full is the sheer amount of sunlight reflecting off of it. Our sun, which is a “nearby” star, represents, astrologically, the conscious awareness, or the light of day that allows us to see what is clearly true, without illusion; thusly the full moon brings light into those places that are longing to be conscious, to be known.
How might this full moon in Scorpio be experienced? Possibly it will feel uncomfortable without any sense of cause, like something stirring in the deep yet the surface appears eerily calm and unmoving. Some of it may present as yearning for initiation into deeper understanding of the greater mysteries of our earthly existence. Some of us may experience discomfort in witnessing places within our psyche that we would prefer would just stay hidden or simply go away. And it may be a combination of all of them, so we might consider grabbing our metaphoric surf boards. Where are we yearning for transformation within our lives? Where are we resisting, or attempting to ignore, the inner urging to let go of what is no longer serving our journey? Perhaps being with whatever comes up in a gentle way, like a seasoned doula, being calm, staying with the process, and going through the initiation, with even just slightly more trust than fear, knowing that it will be okay. Witnessing the process with love and trusting that our body knows what to do to transform into the next phase. You may well be changed, but metaphorically, now, like the butterfly, you can fly.
April 23, 2024
If you use a stargazing app (e.g., Star Walk), you will see the moon is full in the Libra constellation on April 23, 2024. Before delving deeper into the significance of this lovely sign that represents beauty and harmony, it feels helpful to look back at the new moon on April 8, 2024, as the new moon is the beginning, the seed that sprouts and then blooms culminating in the full moon.
The new moon was in Pisces, and this new moon was also a full solar eclipse. Pisces is a watery sign, very connected with deep wisdom, but in the solar eclipse energy, very difficult to see the depth of the water nor any of the details of what was being planted. And might I add, all within the context of mercury retrograde; so, the felt experience may have been perceived as even stronger from the slower pace indicated by a mercury retrograde.
Pisces also represents the thinning of the veils or the dissolution of self, sometimes in ways that are very uncomfortable. Witnessing aspects of the shadow self, or the disowned self, like an unwanted guest for whom we may not feel any compassion nor acceptance, yet witnessing it has value in learning what is operating in the hidden.
A solar eclipse occurs during a new moon, and while a new moon plants a seed that typically culminates in the full moon, a seed planted in a solar eclipse has a different trajectory beyond that month’s full moon. Perhaps the nodes of the moon give us an indication of what is unfolding. Actually, the north node of the moon went retrograde in Pisces the same day as the full moon, so this energy of the new moon, taking us back, the duality of Pisces, two fishes going in opposite directions, is perhaps going to be with us for a while.
The full moon in Libra represents the striving for beauty over fear. Libra governs the lower back region, including the kidneys. In Chinese medicine theory, the Kidney relates to fear and will, or drive. Are we driven by our own worries of failure, or even basic survival, or are we striving out of deep respect of harmony, wanting for others what we want for ourselves? Libra is governed by Venus (Venus also rules Taurus) and both signs represent an appreciation of beauty coupled with a desire for harmony. In Libra, this desire may be conveyed in gentle words, in beginning new projects, in sharing with those with whom we are in relationship, emphasizing balance in our roles.
What was also interesting to me was the night prior to the full moon, April 22nd, a star, Spica, the brightest star in the Virgo constellation, was conjunct with the moon. Spica represents brilliance and gifts. These bodies were brought together, emphasizing perhaps, the sharing of our gifts with the world.
In summary, the full moon in Libra sheds light on our role in the greater community with both humanity and this lovely planet. Ideally it inspires us to move from a desire to bring beauty to the world, to act in a balanced way, seeking to restore harmony without acting from fear. It is a lofty but attainable aim; setting our intention supports arrival at our destination. May we find our way.
